THE POWER OF THE WALKING PAD
I recently bought a walking pad for under my desk. My intent was to get more exercise, and I definitely am! But I've noticed an amazing side benefit, which is an phenomenal ability to focus. I am the queen of procrastination. I heartily believe the adage that if you wait until the last minute, then it only takes a minute. But with my new walking pad, I'm not procrasting and my productivity is pretty crazy!
I'm also gravitating toward my desk now, which has never happened. I want to walk, so I go to my desk and get stuff done at the same time. I've noticed I'm also more productive throughout the day. Instead of wanting to collapse on the sofa and mindlessly watch a movie, I want to do go things—get out of my house, enjoy the day, knock out some errands, kill a few to-dos on my task list. It's kind of nuts how much more energy I have.
And I didn't have to wait for results—I noticed the benefits from day one. My mood had improved and my attitude/outlook has improved. My brain just seems happier! The first day I got it, I finished writing something I'd been putting off for two months. And then I started writing something else. Maybe I'm so much more productive because walking keeps the blood pumping? I don't know.
My walking pad is portable, and that has been quite convenient. I can fold it in half and it has two wheels on the front that I can use to wheel it around. So I now I don't just use it at my desk, I also use it with the TV, either watching a show, or finding a "virtual walk" on YouTube that I play while I listen to an audiobook.
On days where I feel stir crazy, I just walk a few miles, and it takes the edge off. Then I can concentrate and be productive instead of feeling like climbing the walls.
If a walking pad is something you've considered, I highly recommend it!
